LastMinute rip off

Beware of the "Top Secret Hotel" deals - so secret their partners won't put their name to it. Unsurprisingly, as our luxury 5* hotel in mayfair turned out to be under major reconstruction and refurbishment. We tried to get a refund when we found out but were told it would cost us 1 night's accomodation plus a £20 admin fee to cancel. We were told we were warned of the works but in fact, their disclaimer says "the hotel will endeavour at all times, to minimise any disruption and ensure they continue to
deliver upon their service promise". A quick tour of the web and comments by recent visitors shows that the hotel has not minimised disruption at all and the service delivered is less than 1* - yellow water in the bathrooms, workmen outside the window, plaster rubble on the floor, hard hats next to the beds etc. Lastminute.com were unhelpful - they don't provide a contact number and their email response time is very slow. They refused to contact the hotel or do anything to resolve the matter even though it was for a honeymoon. In the end we contacted the hotel directly who were extremely helpful and offered a transfer/full refund - couldn't recommend the Raddison group enough but the lastminute.com deal is just a rip off and they don't know the meaning of customer service.
